Flat Beans

The Flat (or Helda) Bean is a long, flat bean that is very tender when cooked. These beans are similar to the traditional runner bean but have been cultivated to have very few (if any) strings; the whole pod can be eaten!

Perfect as an accompaniment to a variety of dishes. They are excellent as left overs in a lunch box since they are great when served at room temperature. We like ours tossed in some butter/olive oil and sprinkled with some ground black pepper or garlic. Another recipe we enjoy is this Italian Style Beans and Tomatoes, just replace the green beans with our Flat beans; best with our Roma Tomatoes!
